Floppy disks are a great media for storing your small files such as letters/invoices etc, however it is very important to keep a back-up of your files, this guide will show you how to copy the contents of one floppy disk to another easily in Windows 98/ME.

First insert the floppy disk you would like to copy (source disk) into your floppy disk drive, on your desktop double click the My Computer icon.

Next right click on the floppy drive icon (see below), most floppy disk drives are labeled A: by the computer (but the letter used may vary depending on the configuration).

After right clicking on the floppy disk icon and you will see a menu similar to that shown below, left click on the Copy Disk option.

Now you will be presented with the Copy Disk dialogue box as shown below in fig 1.1.

If you only have one floppy drive (standard) then the computer will read from the source disk first and then write to the destination disk using the same floppy drive, if you have more than one floppy then your Copy Disk dialogue box will reflect the second drive.

After clicking Start the computer will begin reading the source disk and you will be presented with a progress bar.

When the progress bar gets about halfway you will be asked to insert the destination disk, insert a blank floppy and click OK.

After a short period the Copy Disk dialogue box will appear informing you that the copy is complete, if you want to copy another disk follow the process again, if not then simply click Close.
