Hello Everyone

I'm wondering if someone would give some guidance on what exactly a service person would do who goes around and installs software and so on, for a bank or other fin institution. Stuff to allow them to do online banking and such. Security and so on.
This may sound stupid, but I might want to do it and I'm a bit shaky. Can't be too hard, can it?
Your ideas?

Hi and welcome to HWPCs.
First you would need to show that you have IT training and certification.
That in it'self can take some considerable time and expence.
Then once you have all the needed training the next task is how do you find employment to use said expertise.
That too is not easy.

Check link for list of certifications.

I have moved your post to Comments and suggestion.
May find more suggestion there.

Its very rare for anyone to go round any more. I worked for a large Bank and everything is done via the network and remotely installed. It would be to much of a risk letting any tome dick or harry install software to connect to the bank as to set it up would need account info etc.

There are firms that do similar jobs like SKY adsl setting up routers etc they are often easy to get these jobs as you get some training and its all one router so you dont need to know a great lot.

As someone who goes out and repairs computers onsite for the whole gamut of problems experience by all levels of computer user, i will state that you will need to have considerable experience from course learning and more importantly from practical usage.

The best advice I would offer given your question, is to download various free trials of security software, making sure that only one is running at any one time, and look at all the settings, work out what they do, how they affect common things like file/printer sharing, internet access, email access, and how to remove them when they go pear-shaped, cos they do with regular frequency.
