For example, in a word processor you could create a macro to insert your name and address into a document automatically with just one keystroke.

The actual method used to create the macro will depend on which software package you are using, although the process of creation is usually very quick and straightforward.

For instance, in Microsoft Word® there is a 'Macro Recorder' which, with a couple of clicks of the mouse, will allow you to record the actions you make and assign it to a keystroke (certain sequence of keys).

After the macro has been created, the recorded process will repeat whenever that certain keystroke is made.

Macros if used correctly can save a lot of time and work. They can be invaluable if you find yourself repeating certain time-consuming tasks.

We currently have a tutorial for creating macros in Microsoft Excel®. Also, we will shortly be publishing more tutorials using different software in our tips and tricks section.
