BIT - Binary DigIT
BIT refers to a Binary digIT.
A binary digit (bit) represents a piece of data (information) in a digital system, each bit will either be a 0 (zero) or a 1 (one). These individual bits are split into sets in order to represent information (data) in a digital system. See binary for more information.
