BAUD
Baud (Bd) is a unit of measurement. Baud rate is a value given to electronic and communication devices such as modems to specify the amount of pulses, often referred to as symbols, which can be transmitted every second.

The higher the Baud rate the more data the device can transmit per second. The amount of data that can be transferred in a single pulse/symbol will depend on the type of data transmission system being used.
For example, in a binary system a single binary digit is sent or received every pulse/symbol, therefore in a binary system 1 baud = 1 bit a second.
