The MP3 audio format is very popular on the internet due to its compression which keeps the size of the music file small without any noticable loss of quality.
There are also many utilities enabling you to convert your existing music into the MP3 audio format, for example, there is software available which will allow you to convert vinyl and cassette recordings into MP3s.
Most MP3 players (and iPods) can also be used as a storage device, enabling you to easily transfer documents and other file types.
Some MP3 players also come with other features such as integrated AM/FM radios and digital voice recorders.
